Welcome, December!

December gets its name from the Latin word decem, meaning ten, due to the fact that it had originally been the tenth month of an early Roman calendar.

Bringing with it the winter solstice in the Northern Hemisphere, December brings the shortest day of the year, falling this year on Wednesday, December 21.
