There are some big changes coming into place as of the first September within the Early Years Foundation Stage
The reviewed framework states
‘Whilst children are eating there should always be a member of staff in the room with a valid paediatric first aid certificate for a full course…’
This is an important step in helping to protect younger children, and reducing the time taken to respond to a first aid incident, like choking or anaphylaxis.
This does mean however, that additional planning is going to be required to ensure that there are appropriate staff available to supervise the rooms where young children are eating. This will include snack times, lunch times, breakfast and afterschool clubs and school trips.
This review applies to group and school-based providers, as well as childminders.
All of our Paediatric First Aid courses are compliant with EYFS Framework requirements, covering all necessary content, as well as having plenty of practical activities.
Each candidate is assessed with a multiple-choice question paper and practical CPR and Defibrillator assessment.
We regularly deliver open courses from our Training Rooms in Nantwich, or we can deliver team specific training for your staff either in Nantwich, or at your setting.
