SUMMARY:First Aid at Work (FAW) (RQF Level 3) (3 day course)
DESCRIPTION:Who is this qualification for?\n\n\n\n\n\nThis qualification is aimed at learners who wish to become first-aiders in the workplace. This qualification meets the requirements for training emergency first-aiders in those organisations that have identified that staff need to be trained to this level within their first-aid needs assessment. \n\n\n\nHow long will it take?\n\n\n\nTo complete this qualification learners should expect to undertake 24 hours of learning\, with a minimum contact time\, excluding breaks of 18 hours over 3 days. \n\n\n\nUpon successful completion of this course\, candidates will: \n\n\n\n\nunderstand the role and responsibilities of a first aider\n\n\n\nbe able to assess an incident\n\n\n\nbe able to manage an unresponsive casualty who is breathing normally\n\n\n\nbe able to manage an unresponsive casualty who is not breathing normally\n\n\n\nbe able to recognise and assist a casualty who is choking\n\n\n\nbe able to manage a casualty with external bleeding\n\n\n\nbe able to manage a casualty who is in shock\n\n\n\nbe able to manage a casualty with a minor injury\n\n\n\nbe able to conduct a secondary survey\n\n\n\nbe able to administer first aid to a casualty with injuries to bones\, muscles and joints\n\n\n\nbe able to administer first aid to a casualty with suspected head and spinal injuries\n\n\n\nbe able to administer first aid to a casualty with suspected chest injuries.\n\n\n\nbe able to administer first aid to a casualty with burns and scalds.\n\n\n\nbe able to administer first aid to a casualty with an eye injury\n\n\n\nbe able to administer first aid to a casualty with sudden poisoning\n\n\n\nbe able to administer first aid to a casualty with anaphylaxis\n\n\n\nbe able to provide first aid to a casualty with suspected major illness.\n\n\n\n\nAssessment method\n\n\n\nThis qualification is assessed by a practical demonstration and written/oral questioning. \n\n\n\nA maximum of 12 candidates per trainer/course ensures that quality is guaranteed. \n\n\n\nCandidates will receive a First Aid at Work handbook and certification via our awarding body\, Highfield Qualifications\, valid for 3 years.
